Google Kills GMB “Google My Business” – Now known as Google Business Profile

Yesterday Google announced that it was officially renaming Google My Business to Google Business Profile. In addition, Google is bringing many of the GMB management featured into Google Search and Google Maps.

The Google My Business App will be retired sometime in 2022.

The Google Business Profile was once named Google Places, and before that it was Google+ Local, and initially, it was just called Google Local. The local business listing management product has been through several names.

Regardless of this change, Google continues to elevate the importance of the local Google Business Profile in search and Maps results. If you wonder how your business is ranking for specific keywords locally then wonder no more. ThriveFuel recently released the Google Business Profile ranking tool. You can try it here.
