Broadcast Advertising To Plummet, Streaming Takes Flight

Last week, Borrell Associates confirmed what local broadcasters are feeling: Internet-based streaming services, apps, and OTT in general are taking a chunk out of traditional broadcast dollars at the local level.

In their “Chart Of The Week” last week, Borrell Associates illustrated the shift happening now and projected to be huge in 2021. Borrell is projecting more than 1 billion dollars will be lost in broadcast TV, while streaming video advertising/ OTT will grow by 1.4 billion dollars.

According to the chart, newspaper advertising will continue to circle the drain, also decreasing by nearly 1 billion dollars.
